McDonald and Sons Contracting LLC was founded by Richard McDonald, a longtime Marion-area builder, after years of construction work in the region. The company is structured as an Ohio LLC and is owned and operated by the McDonald family.

Our primary focus is new-home spec construction: we identify lots, develop the projects ourselves, and build single-family homes priced for the Marion-area resale market. We are not a custom-build contractor and do not solicit homeowner-commissioned work; this allows us to plan budgets, schedules, and finishes around projects we control end-to-end.

We operate intentionally as a small, capable team. The same crew that handles framing also handles drywall, finish carpentry, and trim. Mechanical trades—plumbing, HVAC, and electrical—are coordinated with licensed local subcontractors we have long-standing relationships with. The result is a tighter feedback loop, predictable execution, and a single point of accountability on every job.

Over the past decade we have completed multiple new builds, outbuildings, and full-house restorations in and around Marion County. The portfolio page documents recent work in detail.

Disclosure: McDonald and Sons Contracting LLC frequently performs construction services for Providential Holdings LLC, an Ohio LLC operated by the same McDonald family principals. The two are legally distinct companies with an arm's-length contractor/owner relationship. We also accept direct construction contracts from nonprofit organizations, housing programs, and other parties.
